Why “Ascent”?

The Psalms of Ascent (120-135) were songs of pilgrimage, sung by the children of Israel as they made their way up to the Temple in Jerusalem to offer sacrifice and worship to the Lord.  They are songs of praise, petition, surrender, and contrition.  They are songs sung for the purpose of preparing a heart for God-honoring worship.

This site is called ASCENTS because it’s focus is God-honoring, biblical worship.  It is not intended to be a scholarly exegesis of the biblical text. If that is what you desire, there are far more qualified, and gifted exegetes you can turn to.  These posts represent my own personal journey through the Scriptures; and as I journey, my prayer is that I be confronted, convicted, and changed.
